The Dynamo once again took an early deficit. Daniel Steres makes a poor clearance, and Santiago Moreno would assist an open Felipe Mora, who gave Portland the lead in the 6th minute. The Dynamo would answer rapidly in the 12th minute and tie the match after Jack McGlynn’s Free Kick Cross found Franco Escobar’s volley. Portland would look unfazed after the goal and retook the lead in the 23rd minute. Antony would begin his run behind the half field, and a quick wall pass with Mora would help him through to score. Immediately, Portland continued to push for a third. Blake Gillingham would make three saves before the Half Time whistle blew.
At the half, Erik Sviatchenko came on for Daniel Steres. Griffin Dorsey would be issued a Yellow Card in the 55th minute. In the 71st minute, McGlynn attempted a pass to the Goalkeeper but it was short and Mora scored off the mistake to add to his teams lead. Andy Batioja, a Colombia youth international signed to Dynamo Dos, would make his MLS debut in the 81st minute replacing Amine Bassi. Ibrahim Aliyu also replaced McGlynn in the 87th minute but it was not enough for Houston as Gillingham would be forced to make two more saves during the final minutes. The final whistle would blow and the Dynamo would fall once again.
The Men in Orange will now return home to face off against LAFC still in search of three points.
